In summer of 2010 "PKPP MDC" LLC is preparing to release the first prototype of a locomotive modular cab of New generation.
The new design embodies the experience of the enterprise in the organization of the workplace, human security, following the world trends in industrial design of locomotive.
In the particular the system of innovative solutions are used to ensure an integrated passive safety of train crews in emergency collisions, based on a smooth, multi-stage absorption of kinetic energy upon impact. The absorption of energy is effected at the expense of the deformation of sacrificial elements installed in front part of the frame and the cab, as a result the value of longitudinal acceleration and, accordingly, a force influence on the elements of construction and locomotive crews are greatly reduced. However, the undeformable zone is sufficient for the survival of locomotive crews even in case of the full deformation of sacrificial elements.
Scenarios for modeling and calculation method of passive safety systems are agreed with the Scientific Research and Design-Technological Institute of the rolling stock in Russia. The locomotive collision with the loaded freight car by mass 80 tons at a speed of 36 km per hour (10 m / s) on the railway line is considered to be the crush-test scenario.
Passive safety system ensures the absorption of at least 2 SEM of the kinetic energy of a locomotive during emergency collision with another locomotive (car, tank), without exceeding the allowable limit of longitudinal accelerations of 5g in the area of locomotive crew location.
Also driver's cab is equipped with an automatic system of maintaining microclimate parameters in the operation in all climatic zones of Europe, Baltic States, as well as in Russia and Kazakhstan and the possibility of manual adjustment.
The materials complying with the fire and environmental safety are used, the wishes of operational and design organizations are taken into account and a high level of comfort and ergonomics is provided during the manufacturing of interior and other interior equipment.
To optimize the assembly technology the cabin will be delivered with a fully installed external and internal equipment, interior and control panel, power- and pneumatic mounting. Docking of cab apparatus with the body is provided due to quick disconnects on the rear wall.
Furthermore "PKPP MDC" LLC manufactures sanitary module that is installed in the back of the locomotive. The sanitary module also comes with a fully installed equipment. This module is equipped with a modern interior, clean vacuum toilet system of closed type, an autonomous system of water supply, heating and ventilation devices, that completely meet Russian sanitary norms.
The prototypes of locomotive modular cabs of new generation and sanitary modules produced by "PKPP MDC" LLC will be widly tested in the locomotives, after that the detailed technical solutions will be reproduced during designing and manufacturing of other models of locomotives.
